So, GOD says Adam BECAME a living soul- NOT that an 'immortal soul' was put INTO him- and that he DIED, even spelling it out saying he RETURNED TO THE GROUND He formed him from.
And you are saying the
Where do you think him and Eve (or, their, heh, 'immortal souls') are NOW?
And you are saying the
Where do you think him and Eve (or, their, heh, 'immortal souls') are NOW?
The use of the term "soul" is used to refer to a person, not an immaterial aspect of man. To illustrate this consider the following passages:
Acts 7:14
Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.
Acts 27:37
And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.
1 Peter 3:20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Man is comprised of a body and spirit and is a soul, as you say. The Disciples of Christ took this view and the Lord confirms it:
Luke 24:36-39 King James Version (KJV)
36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
When one dies, their spirit departs from the flesh. In Old Testament Economies the spirits of men went to sheol/Hades. Today, those who are reconciled born again believers go to Heaven to be with the Lord, and the lost go to...Hades. The Lord teaches the disposition of both the righteous/just and the wicked in Luke 16, as I am sure you are aware of. It is popularly believed that the traditional Jewish understanding of two differing compartments-one for the just and one for the unjust-is confirmed by the Lord in Luke 16, and I take that view myself. I base that on the fact that the way into the Holiest of All was not made manifest among men until Christ died:
Hebrews 9:7-9 King James Version (KJV)
7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
"Was a figure" translates the same word translated as "parable." That was man's access to the presence of God in that day.
Hebrews 9:23-24 King James Version (KJV)
23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
The holy places made with hands were figures of the reality, Heaven itself. Christ is the first, having lived as a man, to enter into God's presence in Heaven, and He is the One that opened the way for us:
Hebrews 10:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Men went into the figure, the parable...through a physical veil, a curtain. Christ entered into the true Holiest Place through a veil as well...His flesh, or in other words His body, or in other words, the same thing the Writer reiterates over and over and over...
...His death on the Cross.
A new and living Sacrifice, as contrasted with the death of animals under all former Old Testament Economies.
Now, the primary error of the OP is that you do not seem to understand that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. Just as an opening statement concerning His Deity, I would ask you to explain, if the Son of God is not in fact God, He is called the Alpha and Omega:
Isaiah 44:6
Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Isaiah 48:12
Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
I am sure you would agree this is God speaking, yes? How about here...
Revelation 1:11
Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Revelation 1:17-18 King James Version (KJV)
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
We don't have two "First and the Lasts" in Scripture, there is only One. And when we have the Son stated as Creator it becomes even easier to understand:
John 1:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
This refers to God manifesting in flesh. That is Jesus Christ. He made...everything.
Colossians 1:14-17 King James Version (KJV)
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Hebrews 1:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
The flesh He took upon Himself was created for the purpose of dying in the stead of the sinner:
Hebrews 10:5-9 King James Version (KJV)
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
No man will enter into God's presence except through that same veil...the flesh, the body of Jesus Christ.
God bless.
