The Magnitude of the Cross: Understanding the New Birth is a work of study and devotion in the faith of Christianity, penned by author Darrell Conner. What Conner presents in this work is a consideration of the concept of Salvation and the reasons why Jesus Christ was sent by God to save humanity and forgive its sins. Beginning as far back as the Fall of Lucifer, Conner explores the nature of sin and how it separates a person from God, as well as the concept of being ‘born again’ to truly come into God’s Kingdom. The King James version of the Bible is used in close connection with his study and ideas to illustrate them.
Not being a particularly religious person myself, I was impressed by the relevance to modern life that the work of Darrell Conner had in this text. His interpretations of scripture were close and loyal, but at the same time quite reasonable to the realities of what it’s like to try to pursue and understand faith in a modern world where sin and temptation abound even more than they did in the past. Conner’s writings are extensive but highly readable, and it’s clear to see he’s given considerable thought to the argument put forward, and attempted a compassionate helping hand for those struggling with the same questions. A volume for both the curious and the devout, I would definitely recommend The Magnitude of the Cross: Understanding the New Birth to any Christian, practicing or not, as a way of better understanding God’s purpose.
My thanks to K.C. for the outstanding review!
God bless.
