Eternal life was something Adam has at his creation and all could regain through belief in the coming Savior, repentance and living in righteousness.
Response: Sorry, but Adam did not have eternal life. In fact, in order for Adam to continue living...he had to eat of the Tree of Life:
Genesis 3:22-23 King James Version (KJV)
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Adam was separated from direct physical communion with God, and because he was thrust out of the Garden...he died.
All of his descendants are born in that state.

Even Israel had our gospel (Gal. 3:6-14; Heb. 4:2)
Response:
Brian, you're making this far too easy.
Now perhaps you would show me where Abraham had, contrary to the teachings of Paul, the revelation of the Mystery of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? If you would bother to read the verse...
Galatians 3:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
...you'd see that the "gospel," the good news Abraham heard, was not the Gospel of Jesus Christ revealed, it was the Gospel hidden. Abraham did not understand that "...all nations would be blessed" referred to Jesus Christ, and Abraham died not receiving that promise:
Hebrews 11:13 King James Version (KJV)
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Hebrews 11:39-40 King James Version (KJV)
39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Nor did any of the Old Testament Saints. Read the chapter in full. THen, turn to the next chapter where we see the Church contrasted with the Old Testament Saints who were made perfect postmortem:
Hebrews 12:22-24 King James Version (KJV)
22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
The "spirits of just men made perfect" refer to those who died in faith...not having received the promises and not having been made perfect. Men were made perfect (which means complete, a bringing to an end) through Christ, and not a moment before He died in their stead. Abraham, and the Old Testament Saints were justified on a temporal basis, but died still in need of the Sacrifice of Christ in their stead, that they might be reconciled to God.
So you see, to impose Eternal Redemption into the Old Testament is a gross error that arose out of the Catholic/Protestant animosity. Both are wrong. This day you have been given the opportunity to correct your own error. Take advantage of that. Eternal Redemption and remission of sins on an eternal basis (contrasted with the sacrifices Abraham offered up, Hebrews 10:1-18)was obtained by Jesus Christ on the Cross:
Hebrews 9:12-15 King James Version (KJV)
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Even Israel had our gospel (Gal. 3:6-14; Heb. 4:2)
Response: Again, much too easy. Tell how it is you see...
Hebrews 4:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
4 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
...that Israel had the "gospel?" DO you really not see, in Chapter 3, that they were unbelievers? And here we see they did not have faith? Do you often attribute faith in the Gospel of Christ to 1) people who did not receive the Mystery of the Gospel of Christ and 2) those explicitly stated to be unbelievers?
The "gospel," the good news they received, Brian, was that God would bring them into their own land and that they would have provision, prosperity, and peace. Read the Pentateuch and you will see.
Now, to again point out that the Gospel of Christ is distinct to this Age, let's simply look at a few statements made by Paul:
Romans 16:25-26 King James Version (KJV)
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
The revelation of the Mystery began at Pentecost. It was kept secret since the world began. It is now made manifest. And note that it was "made known to all nations for the obedience of faith." Reconcile that with the Law, which was given to Israel only.
Ephesians 3:3-5 King James Version (KJV)
3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Again, the Mystery of the Gospel of Christ was not made known in other Ages. Not to the sons of men (which is all inclusive of all men), but is now revealed to His holy Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit. If you read 1 Corinthians 1:18-1 Corinthians 2:14 you will see that is precisely what he is teaching:
1 Corinthians 2:7-9 King James Version (KJV)
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
One more:
Colossians 1:25-27 King James Version (KJV)
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
The fact that so few are aware of the fact that it was not until Christ came, died, arose again, returned to Heaven, and sent the Promised Spirit that men received Eternal Life through Eternal Redemption is amazing. But then, when we have people who are more interested in promoting the teachings of Calvin and Arminius than the teachings of the Prophets, Christ, and the Apostles, it isn't really that surprising.
Christ came to bestow Eternal Life, and this through the Eternal Indwelling of God. Look at Colossians again, and note that eternal indwelling is the riches of the glory of the Mystery: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Secondly, and lastly, Brian, understand that Gentiles were not "added to the Body of Christ," for there was no Church prior to Pentecost, because both Jew and Gentile had to be brought together as one in Christ. These are basic truths, Brian, and should make us rejoice.
Eternal life was something Adam has at his creation and all could regain through belief in the coming Savior, repentance and living in righteousness.
